At a conference organized by the Academy of European Law (ERA), Wendehorst explained the differences between three legislative proposals on the EU level that are currently being discussed by the EU institutions: (1) the Proposal for an Artificial Intelligence Act (AIA); (2) the Proposal for an Artificial Intelligence Liability Directive (AILD) and (3) the Proposal for a Product Liability Directive (PLD)
Her lecture focused on how these three proposals fit together and on the interplay between them.
As Wendehorst had been intensively involved in the academic and other preliminary work on the proposals concerning Product and AI liability, Wendehorst was well placed to explain the background on which the proposals are based.
Together with colleagues she co-authored a Commission Expert Group Report on Liability for AI and other Emerging Digital Technologies as well as a full draft proposal by the European Law Institute (ELI) for a new PLD. With Yannic Duller, Prof. Wendehorst also co-authored a study for the European Commission on Safety and Liability Related Aspects of Software. She was further involved in feedback provided by ELI during the consultation process launched by the European Commission.
