The ALI-ELI Principles for a Data Economy at UNCITRAL/Unidroit

Christiane Wendehorst was invited by UNCITRAL and Unidroit as an expert to workshop on 10 and 11 March in Vienna.

The two-day workshop was dedicated to the following topics on the following topics: Artificial Intelligence, Data Transactions and Digital assets and other DLT-related issues. Especially the approach of the „ALI-ELI Principles for a Data Economy - Data Rights and Transactions“ on leapfrogging and downstream obligations, which have already found broad recognition at the 59th session of Working Group IV on 25 to 29 November 2019, were lively discussed.

The "ALI-ELI Principles for a Data Economy" are a transnational project conducted jointly by the American Law Institute (ALI) and the European Law Institute (ELI) which is led by Christiane Wendehorst on the European side and generously founded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation.

The Reporters of the Principles Christiane Wendehorst and Neil Cohen are currently drafting Preliminary Draft 4 while the first Parts of the Principles will be presented as ALI Tentative Draft No. 1 to the ALI Members at the 97th Annual Meeting of the American Law Institute from 18 to 20 May 2020 in San Francisco.
