On 16 January 2024, Christiane Wendehorst moderated the discussion "Fostering Democracy in the Age of AI", which was organised by the U.S. Embassy, the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, and TU Wien Informatics.
The event brought together policy makers, scientists, students and citizens for a discussion on how AI is shaping democracy. In addition to well-known representatives from all areas, the American ambassador Victoria Reggie Kennedy was also a guest.
Wendehorst is recognised as one of the international experts on the development of a legal framework for artificial intelligence and the digital economy. In addition to numerous publications on the European AI Act, she has also analysed the influence of AI on our democracy.
Often it is not the content that is harmful, but the way in which it is presented.
Wendehorst's article is available here, in which she develops five phenomena that could potentially threaten democracy.
