The aim of the conference was to bring together expert from all 27 Member States to highlight, analyse and discuss the most relevant effects of the impact the two directives have in the respective Member State. This included inter alia, (i) the systematic implications, (ii) the influence on the formation of concepts and terms in the national law and (iii) the use of the options which the EU legislator left in the discretion of national legislators and to any voluntary extended implementation of the contents of the Directives.
The contributions also stimulated discussions on the potential effects of the SGD and DCD on the further development of Member States and EU legislation and on on how to avoid inconsistencies and regulatory deficits via future legislation. The last part of the conference was devoted to the next steps of the EU Digital Single Market Strategy and to the impact on Private Law of the Product Policy Initiatives under the European Green Deal.
